The new concept features radical styling that Subaru hopes consumers will approve, especially after several recent failures such as the first generation Tribeca and the more recent redesign of the Impreza. Riding on a longer 108.3 inch wheelbase, the Legacy concept was designed to have maximum presence. Up front a bold front fascia with a slated lower section sits between two headlight clusters that feature multiple LED lamps. The angular design of the concept is accented by the exterior's high-gloss Ultimate Silver paint finish.

Inside, the concept has a four-seat arrangement and the dash features the use of several touch-screens and cameras in a theme that Subaru has dubbed "High Definition". The extended wheelbase creates a much needed increase in legroom while the high roofline adds additional headroom. A high-tech center console consists of a large touch-screen that houses many of the concept's various controls and functions. Modern design also carries over to the car's upholstery as the seats are covered in pearl white leather which is offset by the black metallic leather used on the door trim.

Subaru used the Detroit Auto Show to unveil the new Legacy concept that previews the future design language of the upcoming production model. As expected the car is equipped with symmetrical all-wheel drive and receives power from a 3.6-liter Boxer engine.
