According to a recent report, Mercedes is considering building the C-Class in the United States.

The move would protect the sedan from future currency fluctuations, and put an end to declining profitability on C-Class sales because of the weak US dollar.

Spy Shots: 2012 Opel Corsa SUV

The Corsa is going off-road! These are the latest shots of Vauxhall's new supermini SUV, slated for release in 2011.

Underneath this Meriva body is a car riding on a higher suspension and featuring a wider track. It has some rugged looks to suit the small SUV image. The wheels arches appear muscular while the bumpers are fitted with protective plastic.

Bosses are keen that the Corsa SUV lose the 'gas-guzzler' image normally associated with 4x4s, so expect to see power coming from a range of low-capacity turbo-charged petrol engines. Additionally, the firm's efficient 1.3 and 1.7-litre diesels will be tuned to give more low-down torque to the baby off-roader.

The ultra compact SUV market already has players like the Fiat Panda and the Daihatsu Terios at the bottom end. Above that we will see future vehicles such as the MINI Crossman and the rumoured Audi Q1.

Detroit Auto Show: New Volkswagen Touareg

January's North American International Auto Show is expected to host the debut of Volkswagen's all-new third-generation Touareg SUV (the facelifted "second-gen" arrived in the States as a 2008 model). While details are few, rumor has it that VW will introduce its new Touareg with a variety of powerplant choices during its first model year, including a hybrid variant.

The petrol-electric Touareg - VW's first production hybrid - will be the first of several new hybrid and electric models the company plans to launch by 2013. CEO Martin Winterkorn is keen for VW to become an “innovator” in alternative-fuel vehicles, as he believes it to be a “crucial technology”.

As previously reported, the hybrid is expected to combine the supercharged 3.0-liter TSI V6 from the Audi S4 mated to a 38 kW electric motor. An all-new eight-speed automatic transmission wraps up the package. Total combined power is 374 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. With an all-wheel drive powertrain, the Touareg Hybrid should sprint to 60 mph in less than seven seconds and return a combined EPA fuel economy figure of about 26 mpg. While it debuts in just two months, the new Volkswagen Touareg isn't expected in showrooms until the second half of 2010.

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 12, 2009 – Soaring sales of the Ford Fusion have made 2009 already a record-breaking year for America's most fuel-efficient midsize sedan.

Sales for 2009 already have reached 151,137 units, eclipsing the previous Fusion full-year sales high of 149,552 in 2007. Importantly, Fusion sales are skyrocketing at a time when industry sales are the lowest they have been since the early '80s.

"It's extraordinary that a car could set a sales record in an environment where overall industry sales are down 26 percent from a year ago," Ford sales analyst George Pipas said.

In the first ten months of 2009, Fusion sales were 15 percent higher than a year ago. Also, Fusion has moved among America's Top 10 selling vehicles and the No. 1 selling domestic car.

The 2010 Fusion and Fusion Hybrid are the most fuel-efficient sedans in America. The new models offer more power, class-exclusive technologies, such as Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) and Ford SYNC®, and more total passenger and luggage capacity than the Toyota Camry.

According to Fusion Marketing Manager Jonathan Richards, the diversity of the 2010 Fusion lineup is drawing a growing number of customers to the brand.

"There is no reason for customers shopping for a midsize sedan to look beyond the Fusion, because the lineup offers something for everyone – a Hybrid model, a Sport version and a new selection of gas-powered engines paired with six-speed transmission," he said.

Sales data show that consumers are taking notice.

"Fusion Hybrid, Sport and SEL models account for 50 percent of sales," said Richards. "Data also show that customers are embracing technology offerings such as voice-activated navigation, SYNC and Sony® Audio."
Sales of the new Fusion Hybrid account for almost 20 percent of total Fusion retail sales. Perhaps even more significant, more than 60 percent of Fusion Hybrid sales have been to customers coming from import brands – mostly Toyota and Honda.

The Fusion Hybrid delivers an EPA estimated 41 mpg rating in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, topping the Toyota Camry hybrid by 8 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway. It also offers innovative new technology – SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide – that coaches hybrid drivers to maximize fuel efficiency.

According to early 2010 survey data obtained in the 2009 U.S. Global Quality Research System (GQRS), the 2010 Fusion Hybrid has the highest customer satisfaction ratings of any Ford vehicle ever. The survey was conducted for Ford Motor Company by RDA Group of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

800 Kids built BMW X1 Replica Made out of LEGO Blocks

A group of 800 highly enthusiastic children aged between 5 and 13 years took just four days to build this BMW X1 from mostly yellow LEGO bricks. Danish brand LEGO has been giving joy to children from around the world for 50 years. The model was built to scale which means it is 4.5 metres long, 1.8m wide and 1.5m high.

While the project was developed as part of the Joy marketing campaign, BMW also used this opportunity for more charity work: for every LEGO block used, BMW donated money to the Munich children’s foundation “Die Arche”.
The task was completed in four days and there were approximately 165,000 LEGO bricks used.

The finished X1 replica made out of LEGO bricks will go on display for the public to see alongside the automaker's real-life vehicles at the BMW Welt Plaza, from November 25.

Malaysian luxury car manufacturer BUFORI Motor Car Company (BMCC) is extending its model range and will soon be launching a new generation of modern sportscars.
The BUFORI CS, which stands for "Compact Sports", is a purist and powerful 2 door coupé. Unlike previous generations of BUFORI motorcars, the BUFORI CS is intentionally modern-styled. Powered by a 2.0L turbo-charged engine, the sportscar will feature a lightweight composite body and offer the typical BUFORI craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality. The BUFORI CS is expected to be launched in Malaysia at the beginning of 2010 and more details will be revealed towards the end of the year.
The BUFORI CS is fully designed and developed by BMCC in Malaysia. It was recently decided that BUFORI wanted to have a race version of the car, in order to prove the vehicles capabilities and performance under extreme conditions and directly apply proven racing technology to the on going development of the road car.
This lead to the creation of the newly established BMS (BUFORI MOTOR SPORTS), which is the motorsport division of BUFORI. Through the collaboration with AXLE MOTORSPORT, a company dealing in high-tech motor racing development, BMS and AXLE MOTORSPORT jointly developed the BUFORI BMS R1 using a team of Formula One engineers, employing only the highest quality components and materials.
The BMS AXLE RACING team will take part in the upcoming 56th Macau Grand Prix (weekend of 19th November 2009) with the BUFORI BMS R1, the race edition of the all new BUFORI CS.
"After two years of hard work in designing and developing our new sports car, the BUFORI CS, we are very proud that a racing version of our car has been developed and will have its first public appearance at such a prestigious event as the Macau Grand Prix. We could not have wished for a better occasion. Our intention is to transfer the racing technology to the road version of the BUFORI CS and bring in all the qualities for which BUFORI is renowned" says Felix Haller, General Manager Marketing & Operations of BMCC.

Video: OutRun Project Transforms Arcade Cabinet Into Drivable Car

Garnet Hertz's OutRun project seeks to combine the real world with Sega's seminal racing game by converting the 1986 sit-down arcade cabinet, which was modeled after a 1984 Ferrari Testarossa, into a small, drivable car with a max speed of 20 miles per hour.

Hertz, a contemporary artist and Media Design Program faculty member at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, plans to install motors, wheels, and other components from an electric scooter (EVT America Electric Trike) into the cabinet. An iPhone3G application will use custom-built software and GPS sensors to calculate the vehicle's location, then render and output a map onto the machine's screen in the style of OutRun.

Design
The car is 100% Danish design. Denmark has always been known around the world for its cutting edge design and for the first time \"Danish Design\" has been applied to a Supercar! The design of the Zenvo ST1 is made from free flowing accelerating lines creating the shapes of the wheel arches, the roof lines, side line and the lower side air intake. The sharp lines are connected by muscular organic surfacing creating dramatic reflections. The front is designed around the hexagonal trademark Zenvo grille flanked by the large front air intakes used for brake cooling and housing the front light. The theme of the front is repeated in the rear which is designed around the big diffuser necessary for high speed stability and down force. As on the front the center volume is flanked by large air exits extracting hot engine air as well as housing the exhausts and rear lights. The rear spoiler, mandatory for a car capable of extreme high speeds, is partly integrated. It has a unique aerodynamic design following the raked shape of the rear end.

Comfort & Luxury
The Zenvo ST1 is equipped with all modern facilities which make the car usable for everyday use. The A/C makes sure that the cabin always has the right temperature and the build in navigation makes sure that you always arrive in time. The 7½\" screen makes you able to see DVD and is also connected to a rear view camera to make reversing easy. The audio system also allows you to hear music from either your I-Pod, MP3 player, CDs or Radio. The racing seats are both electrical adjustable and so are the steering wheel. The impressive power is supplied by a 7 liter V8 engine and yes, this is the first ever supercar combining the benefits from both a supercharger and turbo. This combination delivers all the power in one straight line. This makes the car very drivable and has the character of a normal aspirated engine but much more powerful. The engine is a Bio Flex engine. It can run on normal unleaded 98 (RON) or on Bio fuel (E85) or both combined.

(11 November 2009. Crewe, England) Bentley Motors has launched a new collection of accessories highlighting the British company's design and craftsmanship skills. Whether purely functional or created to further accentuate and personalise the appearance of a customer's car, each accessory reflects the attention to detail at which Crewe's stylists and engineers excel.

One of the highlights of the new collection is the striking Vented Wings available for the Bentley Continental GT and GTC. Styled by Raul Pires, Bentley's head of exterior design, the sleek, vented wings further emphasize the Continental's sporting lines. Positioned to the rear of the front wheel arch, the vents are cut into a newly tooled wing panel and feature a black mesh finish. An alternative chrome mesh is currently under development and will be available in early 2010. This accessory will also be offered on Continental Flying Spur models.

The Bentley ethos of tailoring hand craftsmanship to customers' personal needs is now extended to the company's smallest enthusiasts. Bentley Jewelled Torch

Bentley's new Self-Levelling Wheel Badges offer Arnage, Azure, Brooklands and Continental customers the opportunity subtly to personalise their Bentley. The badges fit into the centre of the wheel and feature Bentley's classic ‘B' symbol surrounded by the ‘Bentley Motors' script and remain completely level and upright at speeds of up to 70mph (112 Km/h). Nissan's 'Scratch Shield' paint to be applied to cell phones

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced it will license its breakthrough "Scratch Shield" paint to NTT DoCoMo, Inc. for mobile phone application in Japan. The self-healing paint, currently applied to certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles worldwide, was developed in collaboration with University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials Inc.

The Scratch Shield, a world first in paint technology, was commercially introduced in December, 2005. The Scratch Shield paint self-heals fine scratches and is capable of restoring the vehicles’s paint surfaces overnight or up to a week’s time in more severe cases. The Scratch Shield paint is also more scratch-resistant than conventional paint, therefore, contributing to a more durable and long-lasting paint coat.

This unique self-heal quality of the paint is ideal for mobile phone application, which is susceptible to scratches over daily use. NTT DoCoMo, Inc. will license the Scratch Shield for its mobile phones to be introduced in Japan, which will be a value-add feature for customers.

Nissan has been licensing its unique technologies for various non-automotive applications since 2004. Other technologies that have been licenced include the around-view monitor and far infrared image sensor. Nissan will continue to research and develop breakthrough tehcnologies that can benefit other industries, and promote these non-automotive applications globally.

Superformance Builds Exact Replica of 1963 Corvette Grand Sport

The makers of the Cobra, Daytona Coupe, and GT40 replicas over at Superformance, are at it again, this time with the launch of a special replica of GM's most coveted track racer ever, the 1963 Chevrolet Grand Sport. And mind you, Superformance's Grand Sport is much more than your everyday kit car as it's a licensed replica of the original model that was the secret brain child of renowned Corvette engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov.

Back in the early 1960s, Duntov wanted to develop a purpose-built-race car to win Sebring and Le Mans. Working under secrecy, Duntov and his Chevrolet staff went ahead and built a total of five specially engineered prototype racers based on the 1963 Corvette. However, for various reasons, GMs execs never approved the program and the production of the 125 street-legal cars that were required for racing-class homologation were never built.
